Revue Militaire Suisse with the yearly Aviation Special Edition

Beginning mid last year, I've scanned some old negatives and diapositives for the yearly aviation edition of swiss magazine Revue Militaire Suisse, a french speaking magazine about military tactics, history and future developments.
In the actual magazine you can find some of my pictures and text about the russian strategic bomber force (past and future), the last repetition courses of Turtmann Airfield with F-5E Tiger II 2002/2003 and an article about the German Naval Aviation and the actual status of the Tornado Fleet in our northern neighbour country.
Together with my fellow co-Authors Peter Lewis, Loïc Roulin, Lionel Charlet and Pascal Kümmerling you will find many more nice pictures and articles like Air-to-Air shots of our Air Force and the famous Papyrus Hunter too.
It's a must have for your personal aviation corner ;)

June 21st, 2018: Pope visits Geneva - strenghtened Air Police

Swiss Air Force will reinforce the Air Police LPD24 during the visit in Geneva. The Pope will held a mess with  41'000 places (already sold out). Up to 200 soldiers for medical help and logistics are ready.

Temporary Flight Restrictions 21.06.2018:
- from 0900-2100h LT on the line Geneva Airport–Bogis-Bossey, Radius of 10 nautical miles
- for helicopters and small aircrafts (normal traffic for GVA is permitted)

On other international events in the area (G8 summit 2003, Francophonie summit 2010), an participation of the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) and a mixed CAP (Combat Air Patrol) was installed. This is not yet discussed for the pope.

09 June 2018 - Nostalgie-Flugtag Meiringen

Tomorrow Saturday a visit into the Haslital valley is necessary again for all aviation lovers - historic and actual aircrafts, civil and military, together and from very near !
The Friends of the Fiesler Storch bring the Hero of the Gauli back to Unterbach! It is the first time after its decommission nearly fifty years ago that A-97, accompanied by a sister aircraft A-98, will land again in Unterbach und will for sure be one of the stars of this year's Nostalgieflugtag in Meiringen!

This years specials:

- Junkers Ju-52 with flights of 45mins - sold out
- Antonov AN-2T - inscription for the flights
- multiple aircrafts, mainly historic (Stinson L-5 and DC-3 had cancelled there visit, but two Fieseler Storch are expected !)
- military aviation exposition with F-5 E Tiger II, F/A-18 Hornet and Alouette III
- Exposition about the postal pigeons (TO61) in the Swiss Army

Swiss Air Force supported 'Berghilfe' with an special transport by Super Puma

On Mai 9th, Swiss Air Force helped the 'Schweizer Berghilfe' - an organisation to help people working high up in the mountains celebrating 75th anniversary in 2018 - to install a crane on the Rigi Mountain.

Missing Women found after a 45mins search attempt of the Air Force

The Swiss Air Force helped the police of the canton Vaud successfully in the search for a missing woman.

An 89-year-old missing woman was found, albeit injured, again. This thanks to the use of a helicopter of the Swiss Air Force.
The very elderly woman had disappeared on May 28th from the hospital Lavaux in Cully, as the cantonal police reports. Police requested assistance from the air force on the morning of June 1st. An EC-635 started in Dübendorf and took on the flight operational head of the cantonal police in Lausanne-Blécherette.
The wanted person was found only three quarters of an hour later in the Lausanne area. A ground patrol rescued her and immediately took her to the University Hospital of Lausanne. Shortly after noon, the helicopter arrived back in Dübendorf.

Four of the five temporarely grounded Hornets back in the air again

Four of the five temporarely grounded Hornets are back in the air again. Due the Inboard TEF hinge issue, Swiss Air Force had to stop QRA for some hours end of January, 2018.

Official Statevisit of President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in Switzerland. Visited Freiburg/Fribourg village on his second day today. Now on the way for Aletsch-Glacier and then back to Germany out of Zurich Airport.
