Hoher Kasten Airshow 2025, Mai 30th

After last years one-night visit in Appenzell due my biketrip from Fribourg to Schaffhausen it was clear - I've got to revisit this area again. So I planned one week in Appenzell, this time the Fully EMTB was taken with.

One of the booked visits was the training day to the Airshow Hoher Kasten, a 1794m high mountain  above the Rhein River and at the border to Lichtenstein, Austria and Germany near the lake of constance. The aircrafts are flying around the peak, sometimes a bit lower for nice pictures.

The event and the location was well organised, only the traffic jam on the cable cabin because of very much people with this nice weather was a bit a downfall and a lot of people missed the last public transport to the railway. We informed the organisators and this will not happen again.

The price for the cablecar is quite high, also for Switzerland. I was happy to have the Appenzeller Holiday Card of Appenzell Tourism (if you are booking your stay for more than 3 nights its included), with many goodies like free transport in the area and on Hoher Kasten, Ebenalp and Kronberg mountain.
Next time I will probably bike up to Kamor/Trestenkopf for the Show 🚵

From Lake Schiffenen to Lake Constantia - E-Bike Tour 2024

Not many aviation events this year in Switzerland - or not of big interest to me. After 30 years in military aviation photography I've seen many, many interesting aircrafts gone.

But I'm living in Switzerland - a country known for nice landscapes and chocolate 💞

Since November 2019 I'm riding with an E-Bike Scott Axis e.Ride 10, my first Ebike with Bosch engine. After nearly 31'000km I had to change the motor, and drove 10'000km with the new one since. 2024 saw the 2nd ride through Switzerland for this Bike, this time from lake Thun to Lake Constantia. Actually I startet at Lake Schiffenen, but the first step to Lake Thun is nice to ride but already well known, so I've taken the train for this step.

Day one: Thun - Giswil

first public recharge station - with chargers out of history from the first Flyer to the newest Bosch

2nd day - Giswil to Einsiedeln

a few weeks later the railtrack was gone and another historical military Bunker no more like before

3rd day - Einsiedeln to Appenzell

4th day - Appenzell to Schaffhausen
